I made the mistake of taking my MGF to an MG specialist for a service and he just happened to have the RV8 for sale. I took a test drive and fell in love instantly.....not long after I did a deal to trade in both the MGF and MGB for this. To this day one of the few car purchasing decisions I deeply regret.
The RV8 on the surface was a very nice car, stunning looks and an awesome engine however sadly the whole was not greater then the sum of it's parts.
In the brief interludes between breakdowns it was a dog to drive, the non-power assisted steering was too heavy and lifeless and the fuel consumption was crippling.
We lived with it for a year but eventually gave in and sold it back to the garage.
